Getting Involved
Working together to make Arun safer
Community safety is all about people working together to make Arun a safer in which to live, work and visit. The agencies comprising the Safer Arun Partnership invest a lot of time and resources to try and achieve this, but they cannot do it on their own; they need your help.
Local people know their own neighbourhoods better than anyone. If you are having problems we need to hear about them if we are to try and resolve them.
If you want to get more involved in your community there are a number of ways you can do this. There are many Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the Arun district. If you want to find out about your local scheme, or if you want to start one, you can contact your local Police Community Safety Officer (PCSO).
Your PCSO will also be able to tell you about the Neighbourhood Management Forum in your area. These are meetings for local people to have the opportunity to meet their Neighbourhood Policing Team to discuss and agree the priority issues that need addressing in their area.
You can also get involved with practical help, for example by organising a clean-up in your neighbourhood. If you contact the Arun Community Safety Team they can offer advice and help, such as lending litter pickers and providing waste collection bags.
If you have a good idea for a scheme or initiative that will make an area cleaner and greener, or reduce the risk of crime and anti-social behaviour, you can apply to the Clean and Safe Grant for small amounts of money up to £500 to help make it happen.
