Dog Watch

Dogwatch is similar to a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. Dog Walkers can get involved with  community concerns and provide useful information that helps make their local area Cleaner and Safer.

Dog walkers tend to be out in the early mornings or evenings when other people are more likely to be indoors. Because of this, they might see and hear things relating to crime, anti social behaviour or other suspicious activity that we may not know about.

You can join Dogwatch by filling in the registration form and returning it to dogwatch@arun.gov.uk or alternatively dropping the form off at Littlehampton Police Station for the attention of PCSO Kelly Mankelow.

If you would like further details of the scheme then please feel free to ring PCSO Kelly Mankelow on 0845 60 70 999 to talk about it further.

Dogwatch members will receive a free pen, notepad, dog poo bags and member dog tag with contact details on.

As a Dogwatch member you can report back on incidents of:-

- Graffiti and vandalism

- Regular incidents of poor driving, speeding and disobeying traffic signs

- Untaxed cars

- Insecure homes

- Noise issues

- Anti-social behaviour

Dogwatch members can report incidents online, by e-mailing it through to dogwatch@arun.gov.uk or by calling the Anti-Social Behaviour 24 hour answerphone on 0808 141 2800 (freephone from landlines). All queries will be answered within 2 working days.

If a crime is happening now, or anyone is in immediate danger, please call 999.

Call 0845 60 70 999 if you need police to attend any non-urgent incidents.
Please be assured that we value every piece of information that is given to us.

As a Dogwatch member you are required to do nothing out of the ordinary and there is no need to deviate from your usual routes.

Most importantly do not place yourself in danger to record information, even if this means you do not get all the details, such as vehicle registration. Standing and taking details in the street can lead to confrontation.

All information is taken in the strictest confidence.

Dogwatch is funded by the Safer Arun Partnership. The scheme is managed by Sussex Police and Arun District Council.

If you would like further details of the scheme then please feel free to ring PCSO Kelly Mankelow on 0845 60 70 999 or e-mailing Kelly.mankelow@sussex.pnn.police.uk to talk about it further.
